About Jurtaka

Jurtaka is a breathtaking 1419 km trail along the Baltic Sea coast, passing through Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. This scenic route is part of the E9 long-distance hiking trail and showcases a variety of natural wonders. Starting from the Curonian Spit in Lithuania, you'll walk through a unique landscape of shifting sand dunes and coastal pine forests. As you continue, the trail leads you to the serene Pape Nature Park in Latvia, home to wild horses and diverse bird species. The Latvian coast also features picturesque fishing villages and dramatic cliffs. In Estonia, Jurtaka takes you through Matsalu National Park, one of Europe's most important wetland reserves, famous for birdwatching. The trail’s diverse terrains include sandy beaches, forest trails, seaside meadows, and charming coastal towns, offering a rich and immersive hiking experience. Along the way, you can explore ancient ruins, historic lighthouses, and cozy seaside cafés. Each section of Jurtaka reveals the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of the Baltic region.
